Monster Appetite
Two weeks ago, a 115 lb. college student by the name of Kate Stelnick pulled off an amazing feat. She drove 5 hours from New Jersey to Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub in Pensylvania and took Denny’s Beer Barrel challenge…which was to eat their 11 pound burger(which is the largest commercially available burger) in under 3 hours and be able to walk away. The burger consists of a whopping 6 lbs. of meat and 5 pounds of fixins which includes: one large onion, two whole tomatoes, one half head of lettuce, 1 1/4 pounds of cheese, top and bottom buns, and a cup each of mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, relish, banana peppers and some pickles.
Nobody has ever competed the challenge in the alloted time. The only person to finish the burger in one sitting was this guy who is considered to be America’s top competitive eater…and it took him 7 hours. Kate finished the burger in 2 hours and 55 minutes.

How the hell such a small person was able to finish a burger that size is beyond me. The burger was 1/10th of her body weight! Crazy! She went in there weighing 115 and left 126. The funny thing is that after news of her accomplishment spread, she started receiving numous marriage proposals.
Anyways for sucessfully completing the challenge, she received prizes, her meal($24 for the burger) as well as the meals of her two friends that went along with were free, and a plaque which is the sole plaque hanging on the wall reserved for people who complete the challenge.

being large doesn’t necessarily make one a better eater, competitive or otherwise. one of the top female competitive eaters in the world right now is a petite little japanese woman

i feel like a nerd now for knowing this, but the top female eater paul mentioned is actually korean haha, i saw her on the tonight show, she’s really cool and manages a burger king and one day wants to own her own franchise and live the american dream. sigh i found her oddly inspiring haha, now i wish i had her eating skills.

Ahh yes, the girl who ate the giant burger.
I’m still in love.
The Korean lady just competed right near me in Kennebunkport. I think it was a lobster eating contest.

I tried the 2lb burger and only ate half. The flavor was the 2nd most horrible taste I have ever experienced. I give that girl credit though to stick it out. I have eaten many burgers but I couldn’t get past that taste of this one. It was fun trying though.
