The Big 2

Today our daughter Jessica turns 2. Wow…hard to believe a year has gone by so fast. I remember her 1st birthday like it was yesterday. Tomorrow we will have a party at our house to celebrate her birthday. Should be fun. I look forward to her birthdays more than I do my own now. I never had big birthday celebrations when I was a kid growing up, so I want to make sure my kid(s) have what I didn’t get to experience.

Anyways, even though Jessica has only been in our lives for 2 short years, we can’t imagine what life would be like without her. I jokingly asked Jane once, what would she do if she woke up one day and it turned out that us having Jessica was just a dream. She said she would cry. I think I would too. :) She is such a huge huge part of our lives now. If even a day goes by where we don’t see her(like the time we went to Vegas last year with friends), we get depressed. She is the center of our universe. We could do anything for her, including giving our own lives to protect her. You always hear stories about parents sacrificing their own lives to save their kids…I totally understand that now. Everythintg about her is just so precious. When we are having the crapiest of days at work, nothing cheers us up faster than seeing her and spending time with her. When we’re not with her(i.e. when we are at work), Jane and I are always calling each other and talking about her and how cute and funny she is, how she made us laugh by doing this and that, how much she is learning, all the funny stuff she says, etc.

Anyways, sorry for the rambling post. I have a lot going on in my head right now. What started out as a coherent post ended up as a jumbled mix of sentences. :D haha. Anyways, I will post pictures from the party on Sunday.

  9. What a beautiful entry! You and Jane are the coolest parents! BTW, I’ve been meaning to tell you, but I think that they way you keep a blog for Jessie (and soon-to-arrive Sydney, of course) is awesome. I bet she’s gonna love reading it when she’s older.

Happy Birthday to her, and look forward to the party pics!
