Weekend Wedding

This past Saturday was Ann’s wedding. Ann is not only one of Jane’s closest friends, but also Jane’s maid of honor when we got married. A few months ago, Jane told me that she had volunteered me to be their photographer. Not a backup photographer. Not a secondary photographer. Their primary and only photographer! Wonderful.

There are certain issues I have with doing wedding photography. I almost went into the business of wedding photography, but the thing is…it’s not an easy job. You can be a great photographer, but that doesn’t mean you are going to be a great wedding photographer. There is a lot of work, and yes…stress involved with being someone’s wedding photographer. The majority of the time, the bride and groom have very high expectatoins…and rightfully so. As a wedding photographer, if you mess up or if something goes wrong…you are a dead man. If the bride doesn’t kill you, her parents will. That is not a burdon I wanted to take on, so I opted to do wedding videography instead. I was much better at that, and mistakes could very easily be covered up with the video editing aspect of it. However I never bothered to follow through with it. I only ended up shooting two weddings.

In anycase Ann and her fiance Tim were counting on me to shoot their wedding, so I wasn’t going to say no. I did warn Jane though that her friendship with Ann was at stake. In all seriousness, I think Ann and Tim were pretty laid back about all of it. I think I had higher expecations of myself than they did.

I ended up snapping about 200 pictures. Here are a few of them:

Due to rain the night before, their ceremony was moved indoors. It turned out very nice, although the lighting proved to be a bit tricky.

Ann & Tim share their first kiss as husband and wife.

The happy couple share another kiss.

A nice posed shot outside. This is one of my favorite shots of the newlyweds.

Showing off the bling bling.

Tim and Ann react to an emotional speech made by Ann’s best friend Laura.

Nice table decorations.

The obligatory cake ornament.

The bride and groom exchanging a toast.

A nice moment shared between the happy couple during their First Dance.
