Tomorrow is my last day off before going back to work. It’s been a fun little break from work. But I’m somewhat anxious to get back into the groove at work. It’s weird how I miss it. Im sure by Tuesday I’ll be wishing it was Saturday though. Well since I’m sure things will be busy come Monday, I figured I’d use this time to catch up on blogging.

Well New Years Eve was cool. Jane and I hosted a get together at our place. In attendace was Alisa, Nick, Kaitlyn, Joe, Dinah, Brenner, Sunny, Marilyn, Rob, Rosie, Kelcey, Kerry, Nwanee, and Shirley. Everyone arrived at around 6PM. Jane made spaghetti and I picked up some pizzas from Papa Johns. We hung out, chowed down, and watched the babies/kids(Jessie, Brenner and Kaitlyn) play with each other before we busted out the poker chips and the cards. We did a quick no limit Hold ‘em tournament…just five of us. Meanwhile the girls watched S.W.A.T. on DVD. After they finished the movie, they hooked up the Nintendo Game Cube and played Monkey Bowling and Mario Party 5. After our quick tourney, we played regular Hold ‘em…with fixed betting. That sucked. I don’t think we’ll play fixed betting again. From now on, it’s no limit Hold ‘em or it’s nothing. The highlight of the night was playing cards while listening to Marilyn give out instructions to the other girls on how to play Mario Party. One such instruction that we overheard during our card game was, “Grab the golden banana…it will make you go faster!” haha. Sunny made a few references to his “golden banana” after that.

Well hours later, we were approaching midnight. At around 11:50PM, everyone looked at the clocks on our cellphones. Everyone had slightly different times, but we still had anywhere from 7-10 minutes to go. We told the girls to pause their game and switch to a network station so we can watch the countdown. Marilyn said to wait a few minutes so they could finish the level they were on in Mario Party. So we waited. With a few minutes to spare, we switched it over to NBC, only to see people celebrating and kissing. DOH! We missed the countdown to the New Year. So we exchanged New Years hugs and handshakes. Then the guys went back to playing poker and the girls went back to playing Mario Party. At around 1:20AM or so, we called it a night. Everyone split and then I cleaned up a bit before hitting the sack.
