Like any other University, the one I work at has a campus radio station. They want to broadcast their feed over the Internet via live streaming audio. They came to me several months back and asked me what they would need. I told them they would need a dedicated Real Audio server, a bunch of streams, and probably a static IP. The server and software itself costs quite a bit…so I was figuring they would not go through with it. Well turns out, they forked over the money for it. And now the task of setting up the server, configuring it, and maintaining it has been bestowed upon me. Lovely!
I’m really not complaining though. I’m actually looking forward to the challenge. I’m gonna be doing a lot of reading and tinkering with the server though. Never set up a streaming media server before.
