Today was Jane’s first day back at work. So this morning we went over to Yela’s house to bring her the baby, some bottles, our bouncer, and some toys. Jane was feeling pretty bummed out, but Yela was very reassuring. She kept telling Jane not to worry and that everything would be okay.
So we went to work. Business as usual. Then at around 12pm, I get a call from Jane…and she didn’t sound happy. I asked her what was up, and she tells me, “Yela quit!!!” I’m like, “Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!?!?!?!” Jane told me that Yela said that Jessica was crying non stop since we dropped her off and that she could not handle it. That’s just great. We’ve only been talking and planning everything out with Yela for the past two months, and now she drops this shit on us on Jane’s first day back. It took us a month of getting to know Yela to the point where we trust her completely, and now we have to go find someone else to take care of her before tomorrow. Pretty effing disappointing. When we first started talking to her, she went on and on about how much experience she has with babies, and how she raised her daughter’s two children until they were 3 or 4 years old.
I wrote the two above paragraphs about 9 hours ago. I’ve had time to cool down. I’m not quite as pissed off as I was earlier. It still bothers me, but maybe it’s for the better. Both Jane and I ended up leaving work early today (around 2pm) and visiting a daycare center not far from our house. This daycare center was actually my first choice. We visited their facility back when Jane was 2 months pregnant and again two months ago. I was impressed by how clean and orgainized they were. But Jane wanted to go with Yela so we gave her a try. Since that didn’t work out, we’re gonna give the daycare center a try. I’ll keep my fingers crossed. Hopefully we don’t get a call from the daycare center tomorrow telling us, “Come get your baby…now!” Haha.
