Mission Accomplished
On Friday I took a huge step for me and our financial well being. I took a trip to the doctor’s office and got a vasectomy.
From the beginning we decided we only wanted two kids. We now have two beautiful daughters and so we are done. It’s sort of sad to think that we will not be having any more kids. We do love babies. But we definitely do not regret making this decision. Financially it’s better for us to stop at two. People always ask me, “Don’t you want to try for a boy?” And my answer is “nope”.
At first I wanted a son, but after our first daughter was born…things changed. And when Jane got pregnant the 2nd time around, I was rooting for another lil girl. I’m perfectly content with two girls.
As some may remember, I was originally scheduled for the operation a year ago. But a week before my appointment I chickened out. HAHA. But during the ensuing year, I’ve mustered up some balls(no pun intended) and decided to take the plunge and just do it. My appointment had been scheduled for about 2 months now, but I haven’t told many people or talked about it much because I didn’t want to start thinking about it too much and then end up backing out again.
Anyways the procedure was done Friday morning at 11:30am. The doctor had me lie down on the table while he performed the 30 minute procedure. I didn’t want to think about anything or focus on what he was doing so I lied there and played poker on my PSP.
So did it hurt? Yes, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought. The most uncomfortable thing about the whole procedure was that the doctor who performed it…happens to be a friend of my parents. He was even at our wedding! How weird is that? It wasn’t planned that way too. I went to my primary care physician, and he wrote me the referral for the urologist. I thought the name looked familar, so I asked my dad and sure enough…it was his friend. Great huh? The good thing about it was that after he finished the procedure….his wife(who works with him) came and greeted me and gave me back my copay.
haha. Free vasectomy. Woohoo!
Anyways, that’s it in a nutshell. It’s been a few days and I’m still feeling it. But it wasn’t as bad as the first day(after the anastetic wore off). The only way to describe the pain was that it felt like someone kicked me in the nuts like 10 times. But now it’s better. It only feels like I been kicked in the nuts 5 times.
haha.

Big Changes
Big changes are on our horizon. Jane’s closest friend Ann, is moving to Austin, Texas this week. And about a month ago, our neighbor(and close friend) Alisa sold their house. Her and her family are moving to South Carolina. About the only thing keeping us in Rancho, is Estela. With Jane working again, Estela is taking care of the kids fulltime. However two weeks ago, Estela and Jorge informed us that they are selling their house, and they will be moving back to Argentina where they will retire. Devastating news for us. Their house officially went on the market today. We expect their house to sell within a few weeks. That leaves us in a really tough spot. What do we do with the kids?
Daycare is out of the question. Two kids in daycare is quite expensive. It’s not even worth having Jane work. So what we have decided is that we are going to sell our house as well and move closer to my work. It’s a tough decision to make. This is our first house. We’ve been living in this house for almost 5 years. We got married while living in this house. We had both our kids living here. So many good memories. We love the house and we love the city of Rancho. In the 7+ years we’ve been living in Rancho, we’ve seen it grow from nothing into a very developed city where people are flocking to live.
Estela was our primary reason for staying in Rancho. As I mentioned before, she takes exceptional care of both our girls. And she was probably the main reason we backed out of moving closer to my work 7 months ago when it was looking like we were going to move. But now, without her here…there’s not a strong enough reason to stay. I’ve been with my company now for 8 months and doing a 4 hour commute each day is very taxing. I think it’s in the best interest of the entire family if we just move. Sure houses in Woodland Hills are expensive as hell, but we will find some way to manage. For now, our plan is to sell our house, and then rent an apartment, condo, or a house in Woodland Hills for the time being. After we are settled in, we will focus on house hunting. That way we aren’t restricted by time or contingencies. We’ll be able to take our time and make sure we get the house we want. Also that will give us some time to save up. And at least this way, I will get to spend an extra 4 hours a day with Jane and the kids.
In addition to all of this, we are also working on starting up our own small side business. I won’t go into details, because I don’t want to jinx ourselves. We’ve had numerous plans to start businesses in the past, and they’ve all seemed to fall by the wayside. This time we hope it’s different. It’s going to be just the two of us with a little bit of help from Jane’s sister. If it takes off like we hope, I will be sure to mention it here.

Making Crap
A few weeks ago, Jessie came up to me.
“Daddy, I want to make crap for you.”
Confused, I asked her, “What did you say?”
She repeated, “I want to make crap for you.”
That’s what I thought she said. I asked her, “What do you mean? How are you going to make crap for me?”
She explained that she was going to color some paper with her crayons, cut it, and glue it together.
“Ooooooooh! You’re going to make a craft for me?”
“Yeah…crap.”

Explaining Christmas
Earlier this evening, while driving around the community looking at houses decorated in Christmas lights, Jane told me to explain the concept of Christmas to Jessie. I don’t think she quite understands it yet. Whenever she sees these beautifully decorated houses, she yells, “Yay! It’s Christmas!!!” Hehe.
So I began to explain who Santa Claus is and what he does. I summed it all up by saying that Santa only brings presents to kids who are good…to which she replied, “I’m a good girl.” I told her, “You have to be good everyday and Santa will bring you presents. Can you do that?” She quickly replied, “Yes.”
Before she went to bed, I took her to brush her teeth. She usually puts up quite a fight when it comes to brushing her teeth, but today was different. She was very cooperative. When she was done, she said, “See. I’m a good girl. Santa can bring me presents.” I told her, “Yes. Keep it up and he will.”

Off to Vegas!
Jane and I are off to Vegas in a few short minutes. We got a complimentary 2 night stay at Bally’s. Dunno why. I gambled a lot there back in August, but so did Swit, Gat, and Sunny and they didn’t get comps. Go figure. Anyways, we’ll be back on Wednesday. Enjoy work everybody.
